Get paid
If you are going to charge for your class, you need to tell us where the money should land. It takes about fifteen minutes, and you only do it once.

- An approved teacher account.
- Your bank account details.
- A government ID and your tax details, which the payment company asks for.
- About 15 minutes.

- A payout card that reads “Ready for paid enrollments”.
- The ability to create classes that charge in dollars.
- Money arriving in your bank account after students pay.
How money moves
When a student pays to join your class, the payment does not sit with us. It is handled by Stripe, a payments company that a very large number of businesses use to take card payments. Stripe collects the card payment, keeps your share aside, and pays it into your bank account.
Teachnow AI keeps 20% of what a student pays. You keep the other 80%. That 20% covers the classroom, the video tools, the course builder, the hosting and the card processing.

You will see this same breakdown live while you are setting a price, labelled Student pays, Lumi platform fee and You receive, so you never have to do the arithmetic yourself.
Open payout setup
Open My study circles in your teaching workspace. Look for the card headed Instructor payouts. If you have not started yet it says Set up payouts.
Click Continue setup. This hands you over to Stripe — the page will change to Stripe’s own website, which is expected and safe.
Finish onboarding at Stripe
Stripe asks you for, roughly in this order:
- Your phone number and email, to confirm it is you.
- Your legal name, date of birth and address.
- A photo of an ID document, and sometimes a selfie to match against it.
- Your tax details for your country.
- The bank account you want to be paid into.
Work through the pages until Stripe returns you to your Teachnow AI teaching workspace. If you have to stop halfway, you can close the tab and click Continue setup again later — Stripe remembers where you got to.
Wait for verification
After you finish, the card usually reads Stripe review in progress. Stripe is checking your documents. This is normally quick, but it can take a day or two, and occasionally Stripe comes back asking for one more thing — the card tells you how many items still need attention.
When everything clears, the card turns to Ready for paid enrollments and a Stripe dashboard button appears, which takes you to Stripe’s own site to see your payments and payouts.
Payout status reference
The card only ever shows one of these. Here is what each one means.

Pricing in INR
Classes priced in Indian rupees work differently. Students pay through Razorpay rather than Stripe, and the payment is collected by Teachnow AI rather than routed straight to you.
That means there is no payout setup step for rupee classes — you will not see a Stripe card asking for your bank details, and you do not need one. Your earnings from rupee classes are settled with you directly. If you are teaching in rupees and want to confirm how and when you will be paid, contact the team before you open enrolment.
Discount codes
You can create codes that take a percentage off your price — useful for early sign-ups, for siblings, or for a student who needs a hand. They are called gift codes in the app.
Go to Gift codes, choose one of your paid classes, then:
- Type the code you want students to enter. Something memorable like
EARLYBIRDworks well. Capital letters do not matter — students can type it either way. - Set the percentage off. It starts at 50%, and you can change it to anything you like.
- Check the Signup price shown next to the code. That is exactly what a student with this code will pay.
You can switch a code off at any time, change its percentage later, or delete it. Turning a code off does not affect students who already used it.
Someone wants to buy a seat for a child
A parent, grandparent or sponsor can pay for a seat and hand the child a claim link. If the child does not claim it within 30 days, the seat is released and the money refunded automatically, so nobody is left out of pocket.
Troubleshooting
Stripe sent me back but the card has not changed
Refresh the dashboard page. If it still looks the same, click Continue setup again — Stripe will show you whatever is still outstanding.
Stripe is asking for a document I do not have
Requirements vary by country and Stripe is the authority on them, not us. The Stripe dashboard button on the payouts card takes you to their support for exactly this.
Can I change my bank account later?
Yes. Once you are set up, the button reads Update payout details and takes you back into Stripe to change anything.
When do I actually get the money?
Stripe pays out on its own schedule, which you can see and adjust in the Stripe dashboard. The first payout after verification usually takes a little longer than later ones.
